Lala Haruko Ostermeyer was born on March 31, 1937 in Hilo, Hawaii to the late Sakichi Hayashi and Annie Maika'i Miller- Hayashi.

She is survived by her sisters Florence N. Andrzejewski (CA), Jane S. Leite (FL) and Amy E. Chung (CA), together with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters John F. Miller, James W. Miller, Grace K. Culio, Elaine H. Simmons, Harriet C. Reinert, Pearl M. Santos and Samson T. Miller.
