Criscencia Poepoe Obituary

CRISCENCIA "CRIS" A. POEPOE, 77yrs. Old of Wai’anae, O’ahu passed away at home surrounded by her children on January 11, 2019.  She is survived by her six of eight children, eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  Cris is also survived by her sisters Patsy (Jake) Manegdeg and Nora Lizama.

Cris was born to the late Pio and Laurenza Fernandez on March 8, 1941 in Pu’ukoli’I, Maui.  She was a graduate of Lahainaluna High School C/O 1959 and continued her education at Honolulu Business College on O’ahu shortly thereafter.

In 1960 Cris married her late husband Paul Kaipo Poepoe and had eight children; Perry Jay Poepoe (Deceased); Ivan Poepoe of Kihei, Maui; Eric Poepoe of Wai’anae, O’ahu; Raelynn “Leina’s” (Dave) Nako’oka of Puna, Hawai’I; Waldmar Poepoe (Deceased); Kevin “Bobo” (Lucy) Poepoe of Makaha, O’ahu; Betsy “Kaipo” (Joe) Arakaki-Poepoe of Wai’anae, O’ahu; Angie Lyn Poepoe of Makaha, O’ahu.

Cris was a member of Ka’ala View Christian Fellowship for many years.  She was employed with Coronet Store in Makaha, O’ahu for five years before resigning to care for her son Perry after being in an accident.  Upon Perry’s full recovery, Cris reentered the work force and worked as an accountant at Paradise Cove Luau.  After many years of services at the Luau, Cris retired in the early 2000’s.

During her retirement, Cris loved to travel and collected magnets from every place that she has visited.  Her collection became vast since her friends knew that she collected magnets and would bring back magnets from their travels where Cris had not gone.  Along her travels she always made new friends with her smile and kindness!

Cris was a very kind and loving lady. Her true love is God and her family.  During her last days here on earth she spent them with her children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.  That’s all she ever wanted was to be surrounded by those who loved her dearly!  She will be truly missed!

Services will be held on Feb. 6, 2019 at Mililani Mauka Chapel at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary from 5:30pm-9:00pm.  Feb. 9, 2019 at Ma’ili Beach Park (Tumbleland), Ma’ili. There will be a 10am Service followed by scattering her ashes at sea.  Lunch and fellowship to follow till 5:00pm. Aloha Attire and flowers are welcome.
